DUPE POLICY
There's understandably some confusion about the "dupe account" system, so here's the full rundown. Per our Rules, you — as a person — are allowed exactly one account. Because plenty of people share a household, network, or public computer, we allow multiple signups from the same IP or device, for genuinely separate individuals. To keep that flexibility from being abused, accounts sharing a location get marked as dupes of one another.
A dupe is any two accounts found to access Modern Block from the same location. Had a friend play from your computer or network? You're dupes now. Logged in from a library or internet cafe? You're a dupe of everyone else who's ever logged in from there. This does NOT mean an instant ban.
If you're marked as a dupe of another account, the two of you cannot:
Using another player, a third party, or any other method to get around these limits will result in a permanent ban and full forfeiture of all in-game assets for every account involved — including anyone just helping out.
We will NOT remove dupe status between two accounts — please don't ask — with one exception. If your dupe status is based only on sharing an IP address (say, a phone network or a school/library connection) and NOT the same device, and you stop logging in from that IP, the status will eventually clear on its own. If you've ever shared the exact same computer or device as the other account, the dupe status is permanent, full stop.
Plenty of residents worry about getting banned just for being marked a dupe. Here's when that actually happens:
If you're marked a dupe of someone who gets banned and believe you can prove you're a genuinely separate person, message the admins — we'll hear you out, but in most cases there's nothing we can do. Short of meeting you in person, we have no reliable way to be certain, and we'll always err on the side of protecting the integrity of the game.
Note: Respected or VIP status does not make you immune to being banned for dupe violations or anything else.
